How To Transfer Your Java Games Via Infrared

Nokia Users: use your infrared cable and PC Suite to send them to your phone.

SonyEricsson Users: use your infrared cable and software to send them to your phone.

A Rough Guide To Infrared File Transfer

To Gain 2-way transfer of Ringtones, Pictures & Other Files, you need and infra-red adapter this will allow you to transfer files from PC to Mobile and from Mobile to PC ( handy for saving pictures on your PC you have taken with your Camera Phone). this one works with any phone 100%

Transfer Files From PC to Phone

1. download ringtones/pictures/Games etc. from this site to your desktop.

2. Connect and install your infrared cable, the cable comes with it's own handset manager software too, which supports lots of mobiles but not all. Don't worry You don't want this software running to do this walkthrough anyway.

3. Turn on infrared on your mobile. eg. On the Sagem MYX6 you go to settings/others/data/irda. On a SonyEricsson T610 you go to menu/connectivity/infrared port

4. Line up the phone with the cable so the infra red port on your mobile is facing the front of the cable, usual about 10cm away. like this Samsung E700 pictured below (it's port is on the side)

5. Windows will find your phone and a small icon will appear near your clock on your PC desktop

on Windows XP a small popup also appears and states "another computer is nearby" (it treats your phone as another computer)

6. Click the icon highlighted above and a new window will open allowing you to select your desired file to transfer.

7. Select the desired file, in this case I'm gonna send a bit of James to my Mobile HAOOW! and click "Send"

8. The file will then be transferred to your phone. Easy Peasy !!

Note: Most phones know exactly what to do with certain file types, and puts them in the correct place in your phone. For instance, you send a midi file to a SonyEricsson T610 it saves it in your "my music Folder" and if you send a jpeg, it saves it in "my pictures folder".

Obviously this will vary from phone to phone. And in some cases you may need to move files from one area to another area of your phone. Consult your phone manual for help on this.

How To Transfer Files From Your Mobile Phone To PC

This is a good feature that infrared does, and is great for backing up any photographs or video's etc that you have taken with you mobile. To do it simply follow these steps.

1. Connect and install your infrared cable, you don't need the handset manager software loaded to do this operation

2. Then turn on infrared on your mobile. e.g. On the Sagem MYX6 you go to settings/others/data/irda. On a SonyEricsson T610 you go to menu/connectivity/infrared port

3. Line up the phone with the cable so the infra red port on your mobile is facing the front of the cable, usual about 10cm away. like this Samsung E700 pictured below (it's port is on the side)

4. Windows will find your phone and a small icon will appear near your clock on your PC desktop

on Windows XP a small popup also appears and states "another computer is nearby" (it treats your phone as another computer)

5. Now go to the file within your phone, and click options and send. your phone will look for nearby PC and start to send the file.

Note: Step five is very vague because all phones are slightly different in the way they have the option to transfer. Also remember, not all files are allowed by the phone to be transferred. Consult your phone's manual to get the full SP on this.

I hope this walkthrough helps you get all the FreeFoneFun you deserve from your mobile. Enjoy !
